Chemin de Fer is possibly one of the most well-known games wagered on in casinos. Blackjack is also referred to as 21 or Chemin de Fer. The game is a combination of chance and ability combined with choices. The card game has evolved over a set amount of time. Players have specialized in certain skills like "card card counting," which allows them to turn the odds of the game in the players favor. The card game has been in existence since the 1700s. References can be seen in historical scriptures to a card game known as "vingt-et-un," which in French means 21, and is deemed as the ancestor to black jack.

The card game was initially not so popular in the US. This caused the betting houses attempting a number of things like offering a bonus in case of a 10-to-1 payout, if the black jack player had a "black" jack and an ace of spades. The jack could be either clubs or spades. After the game got well-liked, the reward pay out soon disappeared from the rules.

Any hand which reaches a total of twenty one is considered a winner. The value can not be in excess of twenty one, in which case the hand is considered to be "bust." The target of any player is to beat the house. If both the player and the house have the identical score, it's referred to as a "push" (a tie), with not either the blackjack player nor the casino winning the hand.
